CLI-Anything

CLI-Anything is an open project from HKUDS that bridges AI agents and real-world software. It ships a 7-phase generator that reverse-engineers an app into a Click-style CLI with structured JSON output, tests, demos, and a SKILL.md agents can load. CLI-Hub sits on top so you can browse and install community harnesses with one pip package instead of hand-wiring every tool.

Founders already run agents that write files and call APIs. The missing layer is the rest of the stack — Blender, GIMP, Obsidian, QGIS, n8n, game engines — which still expect a human in a GUI. CLI-Anything turns that gap into installable, JSON-speaking harnesses.

Two paths. To use what exists: pip install cli-anything-hub, then cli-hub search / install / launch for ready CLIs like gimp, blender, or obsidian. To cover new software: install the CLI-Anything skill or plugin for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Pi, and peers, point the harness generator at the app, and let it walk phases 1–7 until you get a tested agent-facing CLI plus registry metadata.

Browser agents click pixels. Coding harnesses edit repos. CLI-Anything treats the CLI as the universal agent interface and industrializes wrapping whole applications — with a public hub, SKILL.md generation, and JSON-first commands so agents compose real creative and ops tools without a human babysitting the GUI.
